Prof. Richard Hay

Social Worker, Educationalist and Writer

About:

Richard Hay was born in Thalassery, Kerala. He is among the prominent educationalists of Kerala who dedicated his career to the world of education, contributing as an academician. He was the President of the Malabar Heritage Society and the first president of Special Olympics International in Kerala. As a member of Lions International, Professor Hay was elected Lion's District Governor from 2003 to 2004. He currently serves as President of the Latin Catholic Association Kannur, Vice President of the Anglo-Indian Society, and the Indian Nature Club organiser. Hay founded the Campus Innovative Group, which visits universities to motivate students and consult on national development. In 2015 his book Professionalisation of Teachers and Institutions was published. He was nominated to the 16th House of Representatives as one of his two nominated members representing the British and Indian communities. On May 1, 2016, he was appointed to the Audit Committee. He is interested in higher education, conservation (environment), tourism promotion, agriculture, fisheries, industrial development and building good relations with the Indian diaspora.

As an Ex-Parliamentarian, he contributes to the voluntary sector, being part of dedicated NGOs, motivating and guiding social development. We are blessed to have him on board, among our governing body.
